Welcome to SOFAIA

The Southern Ohio Fire and Arson Investigators Association welcome to our site. We hope to explain a little about who we are, and what we do. The organization prides itself on its committment to its strong core ethical values and principles. We see the job of any fire investigator, be they public or private, to simply find the truth. We see as equally important to pursuing the prosecution of the guilty, the exhonoration of the innocent.

 
Who Is SOFAIA

The Southern Ohio Fire and Arson Investigators Association was organized in 1978 by a group of fire investigators from Southern and Central Ohio. The group was from a variety of agencies from both the private and public sectors, and was organized to provide a common resource to investigators at a time when those resources were few at best.

SOFAIA has evolved from a local group of investigators sharing information over lunch to a central provider of education opportunities for investigators in the entire Southern Ohio Region as sponsors of the annual Southern Ohio Arson School. The program is open to all private based investigators, fire service investigators, and law enforcement officers with an interest or responsibilities in the investigation of fires.
